Sad Memories - Vietnam Era

Herein you will find stories about incidents and adventures I experienced or witnessed in Vietnam and in the Kingdom of Laos. It has been nearly 60 years since I first landed in that dreaded environment, but residuals of my forty-plus months there linger on to this day.

Memories may fade and some minor details may have become somewhat obscured,  but an overwhelming truth is that the bigger the struggle, the more I recall with certainty and clarity. My stories are as accurate as the mind of a seventy-five year old allows me to recall. Perhaps someone with a better memory can fill in some missing or obscure details to enhance my stories.

Some names in my stories were changed to protect the privacy of those who would prefer to remain anonymous.

. . . On War

“The Army might screw you and your girlfriend might dump you and the enemy might kill you, but the shared commitment to safeguard one another’s lives is unnegotiable and only deepens with time.” - Sebastian Junger, War
